Responsibilities

  • Represents the technical community on the CU Management team
  • Provides technical leadership for the CU internally and establishing / maintaining external technical network including key influencers
  • Responsible for the maintenance of technical standards, external credibility and training
  • Drive excellence in technical launch and support
  • Lead technical integration and leverage of Seeds and CP technologies
  • Leads and manages technical resource & prioritisation across crops/campaigns & sales regions of the technical team – i.e. Technical Field Experts & Technical Field Officers
  • Designs the technical strategy – aligned with the technical launch plan strategy
  • Leads technical succession planning and gap identification / recruitment planning
  • Responsible for developing and managing the technical budget
  • Portfolio governance in compliance with territory portfolio committee & EAME DeCo
  • Lead portfolio / asset prioritization across Crops, in conjunction with customer marketing & sales
  • Leads liaison with the local development organisation (R&D) through management and coordination of PAF/Business case process and status
  • Provides management team focus for technical excellence, stewardship and sustainability
  • Drive market and competitor knowledge gathering, gap identification and reporting, & feedback / liaise with R&D
  • Claim / opportunity support: resolve grower claims and create new opportunities
  • Provide a quality control on locally generated data – signs off CU technical information for use in territory
  • Provides market support as required
  • Consultant to crop/campaign teams to support design, communication, and implementation of technical crop solutions
  • Ensures effective local planning and results review
  • Ensures seeds and CP technologies are leveraged
  • Defines internal responsibilities for key external technical and value chain liaison
  • Critical success factors & key challenges
  • Increased profile for technical within Syngenta
  • Establishment of a technical community
  • National (CU), technical strategy
  • High quality campaign plans delivered in full
  • Excellence in technical launch and support
  • Establishment of Syngenta relationships with key Customers, Farmers, Value Chain & influencers
  • Maintenance of, and belief in technical excellence across the CU

Qualifications

  • Hold critical internal & external crop expertise across a range of agronomic and market conditions
  • Understanding of the role / value of technical information in a commercial environment
  • In-depth crop & product knowledge – labelled and actual use patterns
  • Product stewardship experience
  • Relationship Business Plan or equivalent
  • Critical experience
  • In-field technical experience (including trialling)
  • In-field experience in a commercial environment
  • Relationships with key national Influencers
  • Critical leadership capabilities
  • Develops clear strategies and sets aligned objectives for individuals and teams
  • Gains commitment of key reports and stakeholders in a compelling way
  • Manages risk and is able to work with uncertainty
  • Provides opportunities for learning, development and growth
  • Coaches people to connect across functions and boundaries to spark innovation
  • Critical technical and professional capabilities
  • Excellent understanding of customer needs and importance of distinctive value proposition
  • Excellent communication skills – written, verbal, presentation
  • National training qualifications., e.g. BASIS and/or 10+ years of AG business experience
  • Data interpretation – conversion from data to use advise / product and service support
  • Strong influencing skills
  • Analytical thinking
