VVOB, Education for Development, is an international development organization working on technical assistance in Education. From December 2017 onward, VVOB will assist the Ministry of General Education (MoGE) and the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL) with the implementation of a remedial program called Catch-Up, based on the “Teaching at the Right Level” concept. Teaching at the Right Level targets students in grade 3, 4 and 5. This remedial teaching strategy was piloted at a small scale in Eastern and Southern Province.
From Dec. 01, 2017 till August 2019, VVOB will assist MoGE with the implementation of the scaling up of Teaching at the Right Level to 1640 primary schools in Eastern and Southern Province, covering nearly all districts in the two targeted provinces.
VVOB is thus seeking qualified and motivated persons to fill in the following positions:
- 6 District Coordinators:
- 1 based in Pemba, Southern Province
- 1 based in Kazungula, Southern Province
- 1 based in Monze, Southern Province
- 1 based in Chipata, Eastern Province
- 1 based in Petauke, Eastern Province
- 1 based in Katete, Eastern Province
Position in the organization & purpose of the function:
Each District Coordinator oversees the VVOB technical assistance in 3 to 4 districts, and reports to the provincial coordinators. District Coordinators will travel frequently within their respective district cluster to oversee the implementation of activities. The District Coordinators assist the decentralised structures of MoGE at district level in the implementation of the Catch-Up project. Guiding principles for the District Coordinators in this project are sound implementation, detailed monitoring and long-term sustainability. Districts are clustered as follows:
- Pemba, Choma, Namwala
- Kazungula, Zimba, Kalomo
- Monze, Chikankata, Siavonga, Gwembe
- Chipata, Mambwe, Lundazi
- Katete, Chadiza, Vubwi
- Petauke, Nyimba, Sinda
Excellent command of the English language, both oral and in written. Knowledge of the main languages in the assigned districts is appreciated. Excellent ICT knowledge, especially text processing and excel spreadsheets.
Knowledge, experience & competencies:
The District Coordinators will have successfully passed higher education studies with a bias towards Education. The successful candidates will have at least 5 years of experience in supporting education programs. Capacity Development skills and good monitoring and data collection skills are highly appreciated. Both an excellent knowledge of the Zambian Education system and experience with teaching in Zambia are desirable for this position. Good monitoring and data collection skills .

All succesful candidates will follow a 2 week training and induction trajectory that starts on January 3, 2018. This trajectory will take place in Lusaka.
